Sounds exactly like the storage strategies that "traditional" ECM systems have been implementing and refining for the last 15-20 years.

Pretty much yes; traditional ECM systems store structured content in the Database and the 'payload' on a secure file system. I've started with the file system example because it is a legitimate solution but you'll see that the benefits grow as you plug in other more sophisticated back ends.

If you have anything to add to the later posts from Hyland’s perspective then I'd welcome another vendor's input. I try to keep these entries as vendor agnostic as possible.
